Quick File Post FAQ

How do I download files?

You need to have a link to the file that you would like to download. You can only get this from the person that uploaded the file in the first place.

I posted an image to a website, now it is broken, but I can view the image fine from the link.

The only legitimate way to view an image posted is through the supplied link. Image-only links "expire" after a certain amount of time (usually after a few hours). The legitimate link is the "http://quickfilepost.com/download.do?get=(number)" link.

Why is your file size limited?

This is a free service. As a free service we have limited resources. In order to allow the service to remain free for all we have decided to limit the file size to 50MB. We feel that this is an extremely generous size, given the limitations imposed by some of our competitors. Do you want this limit raised? Use QFP for all your file hosting needs. The more traffic we get, the more space we can justify for free.

Why is your page so plain?

Pretty pictures and fancy features take up bandwidth. The purpose of QFP is to provide free file sharing. The fancier we make our page, the less bandwidth we have available for you to use for your files. We have decided to remove the use of images in order to keep our service quick and allow more bandwidth for your downloads.

How long will my file be available after I upload?

Theorectically there is no limit of the amount of time your file will be kept on the server. As long as it is accessed we will keep the file. When it is no longer used, we will remove the file after a period of disuse. Generally, your file will be available for up to 90 days after the last time someone downloaded it. After that it is removed from the system. If the file violates our rules, the file could be removed immediately and without notice. We may modify this time frame, more or less, depending on website usage and available space.

Do you offer a for-pay service that will allow me to post larger files?

Not at this time, but we plan to offer logins (to allow you to keep track of files you have posted), and possibly other services in the very near future. However, our primary focus is quick, easy, simple, free file hosting. Please contact us through the Feedback Form if you would like to tell us about any improvements or features that you would like to see offered on this site. New features are driven by YOUR requests.

I lost the link to download my file, can you send it to me?

Unfortunately we cannot. Each file is encrypted for security, so it would be impossible for us to extract any specific file from the system without the original download link.

How is the basic service Free?

We started Quick File Post because we felt there needed to be a quick, easy, service to allow people to post files to the internet for free - not just images, but files as well. After all, you can get e-mail for free, why not file hosting? Of course, we still have to cover our basic costs, so ads will begin to appear around newly posted images after a short period of time.

How secure is this service?

Anyone with the download link may download a file posted to QFP. If you lose the link, there is no way to retrieve the file due to our local file encryption.

How can I delete a file?

Files will automatically be deleted from the system after a period of time.

How can I report files that violate your rules?

Please use the Feedback Form to report files that violate our rules. You must include the link for the offending file.
